As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, building and evolving products used by millions. Working with modern cloud platforms, AI-assisted engineering tools and talented multidisciplinary teams, you'll help shape solutions that make a genuine difference to people's lives.

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll help build the products and platforms that power millions of financial decisions every month. Joining one of our Manchester-based engineering teams, you'll work on experiences that make it simpler for customers to discover, compare and switch financial products with confidence.

You'll have a significant impact from day one, shaping technical direction, building scalable solutions and contributing across the full software development lifecycle. From architecture and implementation through to testing, deployment and continuous improvement, you'll work closely with product managers, designers and fellow engineers to solve meaningful customer problems at scale.

What you'll do

• Build and evolve products that help millions of people make better financial decisions every month.
• Take ownership of technical solutions, shaping architecture and engineering approaches within your team.
• Work closely with engineers, product managers, designers and data specialists to solve real customer problems.
• Deliver high-quality software across the full development lifecycle, from discovery and design through to deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Use technologies including TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, AWS and Vue.js to build scalable, resilient and secure systems.
• Champion engineering excellence through practices such as automated testing, pair programming, mobbing and continuous delivery.
• Embed security, reliability and operational excellence into everything you build.
• Explore and adopt AI-assisted engineering tools that improve how we design, build, test and maintain software.
• Share knowledge, mentor others and help foster an inclusive, high-performing engineering culture.
• Drive innovation by challenging assumptions, experimenting with new ideas and continuously improving how we work.

What you'll bring

• Strong commercial experience building and operating modern software applications at scale.
• Experience with Java, ideally alongside TypeScript & JavaScript, and cloud platforms such as AWS.
• A solid understanding of software architecture, engineering principles and design patterns.
• Experience building secure, resilient and well-tested systems.
• A passion for agile, iterative delivery and creating value early and often.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices.
• Confidence using AI-powered engineering tools to enhance productivity, quality and learning.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across disciplines.
• A growth mindset, with a desire to learn, improve and help shape the future of engineering at MONY Group.
