About the role

Join MONY Group’s dynamic Risk Team as an Internal Controls Manager, where you’ll play a central role in safeguarding the organisation’s integrity and resilience. Embedded within a tech-led savings platform, the Risk Team ensures innovation is matched by robust governance. You’ll lead the development and oversight of the Group’s Material and Key Internal Controls Frameworks, partnering with senior stakeholders to ensure controls are effectively designed, implemented, and evidenced - especially in preparation for the Corporate Governance Code coming into effect in January 2026.

Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, you’ll influence at the highest level, driving operational efficiency and risk mitigation across all MONY Group entities. With a refreshed Enterprise Risk Register and a successful dry run of the new controls framework already underway, this is a unique opportunity to shape the future of risk management, elevate organisational risk culture, and embed continuous improvement through collaboration and automation.

What you will be doing

  • Support the business in designing and operating effective material internal controls, ensuring they are fit for purpose and aligned with risk management objectives.

  • Lead the triannual control owner attestation process, with outcomes reported to the Board Risk & Sustainability Committee.

  • Collaborate with control owners to resolve ineffective controls by agreeing remediation plans and tracking actions to completion.

  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of control evidence to support year-end assessments of control design and performance.

  • Prepare reports for the Chief Risk Officer to enable accurate board-level declarations on control effectiveness.

  • Monitor our approach to the Corporate Governance Code (Provision 29) and recommend updates to internal control frameworks as needed.

  • Maintain and update the Material Control Framework methodology and templates to ensure they remain current and effective.

  • Finalise the mapping of key controls to the enterprise risk register and implement a rolling assessment approach to ensure timely evaluations and accountability across the entire Group.

What we look for

  • Solid understanding of control frameworks, with the ability to assess both design and operational effectiveness to ensure robust governance.

  • Skilled in root cause analysis and evaluating the wider impact of control failures across upstream and downstream processes.

  • Familiar with the UK Corporate Governance Code and able to apply its principles to support compliance and accountability.

  • Confident in engaging senior stakeholders, offering constructive challenge while maintaining professionalism and influence.

  • Capable of distilling large volumes of control performance data into clear, concise summaries for decision-making.

  • Able to present data insights visually in formats tailored for senior stakeholder consumption.

  • Pragmatic problem-solver with a strong eye for detail, balancing commercial goals with regulatory requirements.
